Relief Sizer
ProPressure-relief valve and vent-line sizing per ASHRAE 15 and IIAR 2.
Overview
Relief Sizer produces the relief-protection deliverable code reviews ask for: required discharge capacity for the fire case, an API 526 orifice selection sized with the ASME air-flow equation, and the maximum vent-line run for the selected discharge pipe size — following ASHRAE 15 and IIAR 2 methodology.
Key features
- Fire-case required capacity C = f·D·L with refrigerant-specific f factors
- Combustible-occupancy multiplier for vessels near combustible materials
- API 526 orifice selection (letters D through T) via the ASME air-flow relation
- Vent-line check from isothermal compressible flow — allowable length per pipe size
- Capacity and set pressure carry from the sizing tab to the vent-line tab automatically
- Reference tabs with the underlying factors and equations for review submittals
How to use it
- 1
Click Relief Sizer on the RIME ribbon (Refrigeration panel).
- 2
Enter the vessel dimensions, refrigerant, and relief set pressure.
- 3
Review the required capacity and recommended orifice letter.
- 4
Switch to the Vent Line tab to verify the discharge piping run.
Relief Sizer is included in the Pro, Team, and Enterprise plans — and free for 30 days on every new account.
